About Me

What’s In A Name?

My chosen ‘Net identity is a combination of my given name, and a joke between my husband and I. When we first met in Real Life, before we started dating, he somehow came to the conclusion that I look like a half-elf, as illustrated in one particular picture in the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition Player’s Handbook. I don’t see it, but maybe it’s the lack of the pointy ears that does it. ;o)

Over the years, the persistence of the joke as well as my own fondness for the fantasy genre led to me appending ‘Half-Elven’ to my name for a laugh.

General Information

Hatching Date: Oct. 3, 1981
This term is entirely my mother’s fault, who told me once when I was very young that she found me hatched out of a dragon egg. For many years afterward I eagerly awaited the growth of wings and a tail, the sprouting of horns and the development of my ability to breathe fire. I believe my complete obsession with fondness for dragons originates from this statement as well.

Hatching Place: Viroqua, Wisconsin, U.S.A.
Good heavens that’s a pretentious website! o.o I have absolutely no “hometown pride” so I really have no qualms in stating that it’s really a dingy, completely average podunk redneck town. The appeal of the area is the countryside, trust me. The rural areas are absolutely beautiful; what’s left of them, anyway. Great rolling hills, ridges that go on for miles, deep forests and wetlands.

Heritage: Typical American Mutt
But if anyone’s really curious I’ll give ya the whole list (well, the ones I can claim with certainty, anyway). In alphabetical order, even! Chippewa, English, French, German, Irish, Norwegian, Scottish.

Hobbies and Interests:
Oh, so many! Ancient architecture, animals, anime, art, astrology, baking, beadwork, books, celtic harp, classic cars, crochet, cross stitch, dancing, dragons, drawing, embroidery, fantasy creatures, fantasy worlds, gardening, herpetology, hiking, jewelry making, knitting, languages, leatherwork, movies, music, mythology, paganism, painting, philosophy, photography, Renaissance Faires, sewing, storm watching, the ocean, traveling, veterinary medicine, video games, witchcraft, World of Warcraft, writing.

Things I Collect: Plushies, Pocket Dragons, tea pots.
That last one is my grandmother’s fault. She decided that, at 15, it was high time I started collecting something, and for some crazy reason she decided on tea pots. Crazy or not, it stuck. Unfortunately the majority of my collection is in boxes in my grandparent’s garage back in the States.
